I’m Kathy Ellen (entire first name!) Davis, a bookseller, Mama, writer, and big time reader.
This is me! I am a firm believer in books as mirrors, windows, and sliding doors.
Publishing is getting more inclusive, but there’s a long way to go.
I make it a point to read and recommend diversely, and I read newer and older books.
I read a ton of books to my kids and to myself, and I’d love to recommend them to you!
Here I am with my two little readers, Rosemary, 5, and Juniper 0 (currently six months)
I know that life is busy, and it can be hard to find time to read.
I also know that it can be tricky to find books that you like,
and to find books that your kids will like.
I want to help you with that! I know many parents want to raise up readers, and I’m here to help you do that, as well as enjoy reading books for yourself!

I love and recommend. These aren’t going to be reviews; they will be like you’ve run into me at the bookstore and I’m talking to you about books I love!

What will I talk about in these?
They could be:
—talking about things I’m passionate about and sharing book recs on the topic,
—taking a deep dive into one book,
—about reading and writing in general,
—about books and social media,
—book lists,
—about topics I haven’t even thought of yet because my brain loves to come up with new ideas, especially when I’m supposed to be working on something else.
I’ll do more of these each month as I add on a paid tier. Stay tuned for that!

When I start doing paid options (hopefully in June!) paid subscribers will also receive a quick email from me every Friday talking about what I’m reading myself and with the kids, as well as any bookish news/things I’d like to share.
Why a newsletter?
You may know me from social media; I have quite a following on TikTok and have A LOT of fun over there. Though I can do longer videos on TikTok, I think YouTube is a better place for that, but as a parent it can be hard to find the time (and the quiet!) to record videos.
These bits of writing are easy to do on my phone while I’m nursing my baby, while I have a few minutes. I also enjoy getting on my computer and having a good writing session (I was going to say sitting down but I write at my standing desk to get my steps in!).
I LOVE sharing books and would LOVE to be able to do it more; I’d love to expand my videos to YouTube to be able to do longer talks about books. I’d love to giveaway more books too. I’ve been sharing about books for a long time, and have been working in the bookstore industry for more than five years as a bookseller and a social media manager.
I’d love to be able to financially contribute to my family using my skills recommending books and sharing thoughts about reading.
Becoming a paid subscriber would be a great way to do that! Launching that in June!
