Pissed at a pop-star? These books are for you.
No more Bad Blood with Taylor after you read them all, guaranteed!
Taylor Swift is shown for literal seconds of a three hour NFL production.
I get it. That’s infuriating.
Those are seconds you could be watching football…
oh wait, they’re not cutting to her while the game is progressing on the field?
Oh. Hmm.
I mean she is Travis Kelce’s girlfriend. She’s being supportive. No?
She’s just there to steal the spotlight? Hmmm.
Did you see Jason with his shirt off? Oh, you loved that?
But wasn’t he…oh, he’s not stealing the spotlight because he’s a famous player.
It’s just Taylor. Got it.
Travis and Taylor celebrated after the game, yeah, I saw that.
That made you mad?
Okay, I’m starting to get it now.
You don’t have a problem with families being supportive,
you have a problem with women being shown on television.
Especially the ones who are WILDLY successful.
You see two people celebrating their joy,
and for some reason all you can express is anger.
Okay.
I have some books that will help.
It’s not ENTIRELY your fault;
society here in the US does its best to weave misogyny into the culture
and tell men they can’t express any emotions but anger.
Oh, you’re not a man? Sorry for assuming, it’s just I’ve only seen them getting so upset over this that they’re spending all their time in Facebook comment sections yelling about it.
Anyway, on to the books!
It can be really hard to recognize what you’re doing is mean,
so let’s start out with this book.
It’s nice and short so you can start right now,
PLUS…
It has DINOSAURS!
Everyone loves DINOSAURS!
Okay, now that I hope you’re feeling a little bit better
and maybe a bit more calm, we can really get into it.
This is a great one to start with.
It shares lots of ways that men have been wrong about women throughout history, and showcases tons of amazing women.
Maybe you haven’t been around that many (though I doubt it, they’re everywhere!).
This will get you used to the fact that women are amazing
and don’t just exist for the sake of a relationship with a man.
Oh, and it’s a graphic novel, so it’s a quick read!
Next we need to get into some emotions.
We have a few options here.
If you can only devote a commercial break or two to reading?
Start with picture books.
I know, they seem like they’re just for kids,
but they’re great for everyone because they pack a nice neat message in a short book.
These two on anger are great to remind you
that you’re not really yourself when you’re so angry,
and there are techniques that help you come back
from that white-hot anger place
where you don’t even know
what you’re typing in comment sections.
Maybe you weren’t angry but once you saw everyone else posting about it
it got you thinking and you got swept away.
Read this one about how to get out of a mood
that you unintentionally get swept into.
Okay so those emotions are moving through you and you don’t know what to do?
What’s more relaxing than a cup of hot cocoa? NOTHING!
Read this one for a wonderful little meditation
that’s a bonus breathing practice
you can do again and again.
Feeling better? Let’s look at all emotions.
Need a quick overview? I’ve got you!
and this one is a bit longer, but it has flaps so you know it’s going to be fun.
It even runs through some common scenarios and times
when you may have trouble regulating your emotions.
I don’t think it has “seeing a hugely successful singer on your TV screen supporting her boyfriend during his NFL game” as a scenario, but that’s only because it’s for kids and they’re too young for boyfriends and girlfriends.
But I bet there’s something similar.
Okay, feeling better?
Thinking you want to devote more time
to read on this and learn?
Start with this. It has all the emotions.
Next let’s get a great overview of therapy; a therapist shares some stories of working with her clients and going to therapy herself. You can see how it helps and that it’s not that scary, promise!
Speaking of workbook, check out this one, it’s written by the person who helped me figure out the title to this post (Hi
), which got you to click in the first place, right?Or at least got someone to anonymously send it to you.
I know, it’s been a while
since I shared a book written by a man.
Don’t worry, this one’s good, and you can learn about regulating your emotions!
Got those emotions under control?
You’re ready to move on to these books that will take things to the next step.
This book will help you get used to getting in touch with your emotions,
listening to yourself, and figuring out what you truly want.
Do you really want to be spending your time spewing hate comments on Facebook? C’mon, I know you have a bigger dream than that. You can discover it with this book!
And like I said earlier, society does a great job passing on some really harmful beliefs to us. And your friends and family could be too (especially if they were in those comment sections with you getting all riled up!).
Check out this book and heal yourself to a place
where seeing Taylor at a football game won’t even bother you.
Even if you’ve healed, it doesn’t mean everyone around you has.
Unless you start a bookclub where you read the book
and discuss it before the football game.
That would be cool, you can have that idea for free.
Anyway, not everyone is ready to heal at the same time.
That’s why you need this book: it’s likely that Taylor is going to keep showing up at those games, and keep being successful, and some people in your life are going to keep having a problem with that.
You need to be firm that you don’t want to hear that.
This book will help with those boundaries.
After all of this, you deserve a bit of self care. So why not check out this book, that empowers you to think about self care not as just a bubble bath every month but something you do each day to be your best self?
Then go ahead and read this one. It’s important to know this history, especially as one of these will likely be running for President for the third time.
Read them all?
Congrats!
Please let me know how you are getting on.
Here’s a handy dandy list of them all if you’d like that!
I do hope this helps, and you can get back to watching football and not having the urge to run to Faceook comment sections no matter who is supporting their love interest or family member at the game.
Thanks for reading!

P.S. Want to share the video instead of this post?
These are all excellent books and they truly would help anyone who wants to know themselves better! No I don’t want to talk about how it’s a conspiracy to get the Chiefs to the Super Bowl. And yes, I fully do agree with this guy.
Subscribed to your YT channel! Funny video with Taylor and smart to repurpose it that way. Super sweet children's books. Great compilation. LOVE it.
